Why did Jerry choose to become a Physical Therapist?

November 24, 2020 – We all have our reasons for being drawn to something. In this month’s blog let’s learn why Jerry Bockman, PT, DPT, was drawn to physical therapy and Witte Physical Therapy.

Dr Jerry Bockman

“My name is Jerry Bockman and I am a Physical Therapist. I am so lucky to be able to say this every day! In high school when I began the process of looking for a possible future career path, I knew I wanted to be involved in the medical field. When reviewing different medical professions, I came across physical therapy. I enjoyed being able to help people and found human anatomy to be one of my favorite classes, so I felt this would be a perfect fit! It turns out I was correct.

When I pictured physical therapy in my mind, I imagined rehabbing an individual back from a recent sports injury or surgery. However, this is far from the only thing physical therapy is. When I became exposed to all the different settings a therapist can help one reach their goals in, it fueled my passion even more! Whether it be in a skilled nursing facility, home health, pediatrics, geriatrics, inpatient, outpatient, the list is truly endless.

I have always been fascinated with the human body. The way it functions, the way it moves, the way it can heal itself, it is the greatest machine on earth. With each bit of information I learned about it, the drive in me grew to want to learn even more! Now I get to use that information, and the body and it’s processes itself, to help someone reach their desired level of function!

My passion for the field of physical therapy grows every day. I get the opportunity to meet so many amazing individuals and play a role in helping them achieve a goal, something in their life that is truly meaningful. My name is Jerry Bockman and I am proud to say that I am a Physical Therapist at Witte Physical Therapy.”
